Walking

One of the best ways to discover Hampshire and Wiltshire is to leave the car behind and explore the numerous footpaths in the area, one of which runs right through the pub car park.

The Test Way  follows the valley of the River Test for much of its length with water meadows and fields to enjoy.  The Clarendon Way links Winchester and Salisbury and crosses the Test Valley.

The New Forest is actually very old and is a wilderness of heath land and forest that is home to large herds of wild deer and the New Forest ponies and donkeys.

Cycling

There are a number of excellent cycle ways including off-road cycle routes, mountain bike trails and other routes using mostly quiet country lanes.  Nearby is the Test Valley Tour, a gentle bike ride for approximately ten miles, which uses part of the National Cycle Network.

Heritage Cycle Tours run one day tours, providing everything you need (including the bike!)

Fishing

Holbury Lakes Trout Fishery covers 40 acres of Test Vally countryside, with fly-fishing tuition available.

Shooting

The Spitfire Shoot provides professional instruction in clay pigeon shooting at Houghton Down Farm, Stockbridge.

Driving

Driving experiences at Thruxton Motorsport Centre, where you can have a go in a Ferrari, Lamborghini or Porche.
